Our Services

In Tolerance is a one-stop shop for your precision machining needs. Our niche is precision manufactured aluminum, steel and plastic parts for the aerospace, defense and medical markets. We concentrate on a low volume, high mix of unique parts to support our customers.

125 Years of Experience

Manufacturing and delivering extremely high quality parts as a product of our extremely well-equipped and experienced Quality department staff. We have over 125 years of combined experience supporting the backbone of our company.

CNC Milling Equipment

Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Milling

The milling technique means the material typically is stationary and the tooling rotates to remove the excess material and create the unique shape and characteristics. The design is specified on a computer using CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools to instruct the machine tool as to the profile and shape of the design. This capability allows for complex parts to have extremely high quality and very responsive delivery lead-times because of high repeatability.

In Tolerance operates:
  • 7 Mazak CNC Vertical Mills with maximum size of 16x20x12, holding a .001 tolerance.
  • 5 Mazak Horizontal Mills with maximum part size of 16x16x16, holding a .001 tolerance.
  • 3 VM-1 Hurco Mills with maximum part size of 16x20x12, holding a .001 tolerance.
Turning Equipment

Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Turning

The turning technique means the material typically spins at a high speed with the tooling is held stationary to remove the excess material and creates the unique shape and characteristics.

The use of both standard turning centers, along with "live tooling" (when both the material and tooling are spinning relative to each other) centers, allows multi-axis machining all within one process.

In Tolerance operates:
  • 5 Mazak CNC Turning Machines
    • 3 with Live Tooling
    • 1 with live Y-Axis Capability
    • Maximum Spindle Size of 2.75 inches (10 inch chuck)
    • Holding a .0005 Tolerance
CNC Swiss Equipment

Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Swiss

Through "Swiss" style or through-spindle turning, In Tolerance can deliver superior quality and TIR control even with very long and small diameter parts. "Swiss" turning is a unique technology that spins the material at high speeds, while the tool typically is stationary.

In Tolerance operates:
  • 5 RNC-16 CNC Swiss Machines
  • Sizes up to .625 diameter (16mm)
  • Holding a tolerance of .0002
  • Flexibility to handle any length part, with almost any material

Wet Paint

With experienced painters and a dedicated paint room, In Tolerance is able to provide Nadcap-certified wet paint finishing.

Completing the finishing process in-house ensures the quality of the coating application and makes delivery efforts more efficient on parts that require wet paint finishing.

Salt Spray Testing

Nadcap Processing Equipment

National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) Processing

The National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap) was implemented in 1990 as part of an unprecedented effort to establish elevated quality standards throughout the aerospace and defense industries. Leaders in the global aerospace industry and technical experts from the United States government work together to define operational program requirements and approve suppliers. The Nadcap assessment is a proactive measure for companies that benefits their customers by guaranteeing proficiency and centralizing risk management with accredited suppliers.

In Tolerance complies with these rigorous accreditation standards and all of our Nadcap-accredited special processes have been evaluated by a Performance Review Institute auditor.

Chromium Conversion & Passivation

In Tolerance supports in-house chromium conversion and passivation that meets Nadcap requirements. Our newly renovated special processing lab features the following improvements:

  • Custom Tanks: Each of our large tanks is individually plumped per unique requirements. This provides a better quality product via lot uniformity, decreases lead times by significantly reducing batch processing times and is also environmentally friendly.
  • Overhead Track System: The overhead track and pneumatic lift system have improved our ergonomic work environment, allowing us to safely handle more tight tolerance parts while maintaining part integrity.
  • Constant Agitation: The aeration pumps help to uniformly distribute temperature and provide high-quality part coating.
  • Digital Temperature Controls: By digitally controlling and monitoring the temperature throughout the process, we are able to hold temperatures within a degree of the target and reduce process variation.
